Instructions:

  1. Brown the Ground Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it’s browned and no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Add Aromatics: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper to the pot with the ground beef. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
  3. Spice it Up: Sprinkle the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper over the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly with the spices.
  4. Tomatoes and Beans: Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and the drained and rinsed kidney beans. Stir to combine.
  5. Simmer: Pour in the beef broth and stir everything together. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let the chili simmer, uncovered, for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together and the chili to thicken.

  1. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the chili and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt, pepper, or spices according to your preference.
  2. Serve: Once the chili is ready, ladle it into bowls and serve hot. You can top it with shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, sliced jalapeños, diced avocado, or any other toppings you like.
  3. Enjoy: Enjoy your homemade chili con carne with some crusty bread, cornbread, or tortilla chips on the side.

Feel free to customize this recipe according to your taste preferences by adding more or less of any ingredient or by incorporating additional spices or vegetables. Chili con carne is a versatile dish that lends itself well to experimentation!
