I shift uneasily in my chair, the weight of her gaze pressing on me. I know she’s waiting for something more, perhaps an admission, or maybe just a sign that I’m willing to listen.
“What do you want to know?” I ask, my voice more tentative than I’d like.
She hesitates, her fingers drumming lightly on the table. “Everything,” she says, barely above a whisper. “I want to know everything.”
